Mobile' #60: the Trefoil Knot

If you've been following this blog you know that I've been working with this trefoil knot idea and exploring its possibilities as a sculpture idea. So it was inevitable that I'd attempt to make a mobile' with it. I wasn't sure how this would come out, or if I'd even be able to balance this thing. As you can see by the photo, I did make it, and it does work. It was my wife, Ellen's idea to use another trefoil knot as the base. . . brilliant! The wood is Douglas Fir,  the rods are 1/4 inch steel and the counter-weights are 8 oz. lead fishing weights. I'm quite intrigued by this shape. I'll be exploring it more.
