Apple wood bowl

This is a very small bowl made from spalted Apple wood from my own back yard. A bit difficult to turn on a lathe because the wood is very hard near the bark of the tree but very soft toward the inside of the trunk. Again, this is wood I saved and stored to dry about 20 -30 years ago and then forgot I'd put it up there. I found it again as I was cleaning out the loft recently. There is more of this wood left, so I may get around to trying to make something with it.

Plum wood canister

This is a Satsuma Plum wood canister made from wood from my own backyard. It measures about 1" wide by 3.5" high. I'm getting better at this.

Yet another redwood bowl

Another redwood bowl made from the same lumber as the other redwood bowls I posted. These are made from really nice old clear heartwood redwood 2x6's I saved years ago, put away and forgot about until I came across them as I was cleaning out the loft in my studio.

More Redwood bowls

This first bowl is only 3" wide by 1.5" deep, from a 30 year old clear heartwood Redwood 2x6 plank.
The second bowl is the same wood but a larger bowl. This one is 1.5" deep by 5.5" wide. This wood is super light. This bowl weighs only about 1.5 ounces.

Another Redwood Bowl

This is another Redwood bowl made with clear heart redwood from a 30 year old 2x6. It's two layers glued together so I could make a deeper bowl. This one's 3" high and about 5.5" across.
