Eucalyptus Bowl

This bowl is turned from Eucalyptus wood. The grain and coloration looks almost identical to the Pear wood bowl I turned in the last blog post. This bowl measures 5.5 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches high. It was wet sanded with mineral oil. The finish is a high-speed wax polish.

Small Spalted Maple Bowl

This is a small spalted Maple bowl. The dimensions are 4 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches high. It was wet sanded with mineral oil. The finish feels like satin. No tear-out in the spalted areas this time. I'm getting better at this with each new bowl I turn.

Maple Wood Box

It's nice that I have so much wood literally falling into my yard. I have a pile of this Maple wood from a big tree that we had removed. This piece of wood has some fiddle-back grain, a little bit of Birds-Eye grain, and otherwise nice clean grain. Beautiful piece of wood. The box is 6 inches in diameter, 3 inches high (4, with the knob). Loose-fitting lid. Wet sanded with oil to 400 grit. The finish is mineral oil only. Feels like satin.
