This is a 5.75 inch diameter by 2 inch high green-turned Elm wood bowl. This was put on the lathe about 4-5 days after a storm dropped this big branch in my yard. I got a nice chunk of heart wood from that and turned this from it. The heart wood is beautiful in this wood. It has little red colored knots throughout it and a little bit of red coloring between the sap wood and the heart wood. Beautiful grain. This is still drying and I expect it to warp and it might crack too. We'll have to wait and see. I've never turned this kind of wood before. No telling how the green wood will dry out.
