Here's a Pear wood bowl, 4.25 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches high. This is a bowl shape I've been working with lately. Using the scalloped undercut at the base of the bowl, exploring variations of it. With this Pear wood there's an understated beauty in the grain. Interesting, as in the above photo, you can see the grain going in opposite directions. In my bowls there are often cracks, knots, and bits of bark as well. I cut a couple grooves near the rim for detail. The finish in these bowls feels like satin.
