This is a Cherry wood bowl measuring 7.25 inches diameter and 1.5 inches high. I was given a couple of beautiful pieces of Cherry wood by my brother-in-law, Alex Shashura. This stuff turns nicely and finishes beautifully with lovely "chatoyance" (that 3-dimensional effect in nicely finished wood grain). This bowl was wet sanded with Orange Oil and Beeswax and finished with a high-speed polish to give it a nice not-to-glossy shine. I didn't want to waste any of this beautiful wood so I even made a couple of small bowls out of the cut-offs, from cutting out this bowl. That's in the next post.
I've another piece of this wood and I can't wait to turn it. Thank you very much Alex!
