Ash Wood Knives

Here are a couple of 9 inch long Ash wood knives. Knurled handles. These are spreader knives. Turned on
the lathe, then blades shaped with a belt sander. These were further hand-sanded and oil/wax finished. 

Spreader Knives

 These 5.5 inch long spreaders are for soft spreads: butter, cream cheese, etc.. The blades are Maple wood and the handles are Walnut.

Tiny Scoop

 

Turned a tiny scoop . . . just to see if I could. Not very useful. Practice for my spindle gouge. 

Live Edge Ash Wood Bowl

 This is a 6 inch diameter Ash wood bowl. Live edge means the bark is left on. A neighbor down the street cut down an Ash tree in his yard. I offered to help him cut it up if I could have a few pieces of wood. 

Kitchen Tools in Wood

This is a Sycamore wood spatula, 13 inches long and almost 2 inches wide. The dark wood is Pear. 

 These "spoons" are 4 inches long, with bowls almost 1.5 inches wide. The wood is Pear. These were turned on the lathe. 

I want to make more of this kind of stuff in the future. Stay tuned for that.
 

Glass Canister

Here we have a 9.5 inch high canister made from a cut off wine bottle. The wood is Pine. The finial is Plum wood. The base is 3.75 inches in diameter. I've another cut off wine bottle for which I will make another of these with a different kind of wood.
 

Small Sycamore Cups

 These are Sycamore cups, roughly 2 inch diameter and almost 2 inches high. Buffed with "True Grit" buffing compound. I like this wood.
