Here's a segmented lathe turned box made of mostly Mahogany, with some Cherry wood in there as well. It measures 5.25 inches in diameter and 5.25 inches in height. Each layer is a twelve segment ring: from the bottom they are: Mahogany, Cherry, Mahogany, two layers of Cherry, and Mahogany. The lid is, from bottom layer: an eight segment Mahogany, then a twelve-segment Cherry, then a different kind of Mahogany. The knob at the top is Maple, Mahogany, topped off with Cherry. It was wet sanded with Mineral oil then burnished with wood shavings.
