Glass Canister
Here is another canister I made from glued-together blocks of scrap wood from my shop. The canister is 9.5 inches tall and about 3 inches wide. The bottom is two pieces of 3/4 inch pine boards glued together and turned. It has a groove in the top side to accept the bottom of the glass cylinder. The bottom side of the base is hollowed out. The glass cylinder was made by cutting off the top and bottom of a wine bottle, keeping just the straight part. The lid was made from a block off layered scraps, top to bottom: Oak (knob), two 1/8 inch layers of Redwood, cabinet grade plywood, and Redwood at the bottom of the lid. The glass was glued into the groove.
